Big12Outdoors_2008.jpg The University of Colorado men's team won its first Big 12 Conference Outdoor Track & Field title as the 2008 Championships concluded Sunday night at Potts Field. The title is the first men's league championship since running off a string of eight in a row in the old Mountain States Conference between 1940 and 1947.

Second and third place in the marathon were taken by two Ohio master's-age runners: James Beyer, 40, Dayton, with a time of 2:34:52; and Rob Juergens, 44, Avon Lake, in 2:35:43.

New York, Saturday, May 17—Patrick Makau of Kenya led wire to wire to win the 2008 Healthy Kidney 10K, missing U.S. Olympian Dathan Ritzenhein’s Central Park record of 28:08, set in this race last year, by 11 seconds. This was the fourth running of the New York Road Runners event, which benefits the National Kidney Foundation.
