Ohio’s Jessica Beard won her third 400 meters (52.23) USA Junior Track & Field Championship. Ohio’s Ryan Fleck and Erik Kynard captured the first two places in the high jump.

fernandezNikeOutdoor08.jpg German Fernandez, from California, ran 8:34:40 for 2 miles at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, NC on Friday breaking the National High School record of 8:36.3 set in 1979. Fernandez also broke another record in the process---by running 7:59.38 for 3000 meters thus breaking the previous record of 8:03:67.

June 21, 2008 from press release. (Duluth, MN) Kenya's Lamech Mokono made his Grandma�s Marathon debut a successful one today, claiming the men's championship in the 32nd annual race. Mokono ran a personal best 2:13:39, holding off a late surge from fellow Kenyan David Tuwei who finished just five seconds later in 2:13:44.

June 20, 2008 / press release (Duluth, MN) Grandma's Marathon weekend kicked off with the William A. Irvin 5K � the first of three races scheduled for the 32nd annual event. Jordan Tucker, 21, of Omaha, NE, outlasted Mike Kramer, of Cloquet, MN, to win the 3.1-mile race in a time of 16:22. Kramer, also 21, finished just one second later in 16:23.

DES MOINES, IA — Friday the 13th was a great night for University of Colorado junior Jenny Barringer who won the NCAA 3,000-meter steeplechase championship. The Buffs also placed 2-3-7 in the men’s 5,000-meter run. Stephen Pifer was second, Brent Vaughn in third and Kenyon Neuman was seventh. Billy Nelson took second in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase.

Segal, of Holmdel, who won the Spring Lake Five in May, was followed closely by second-place finisher Tim Mulligan, 27, of Whiting, who finished 9 seconds back in 25:43.

Former Kansas State runner Mathew Chesang pulled ahead of fellow Kenya native Wesley Ochoro with about 100 yards to go and took first place in a gun time of 1:06:30. Ochoro was two seconds behind.

LSU won the women's team crown for the first time since 2003 and Florida State repeated as men's champions at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend at Drake University in Des Moines, IA. The women's championship all came down to the final event between LSU and Arizona State.

folk_columbus-08 16-04-11.jpg Columbus, OH, 06-08-08) Despite one of the warmest days ever in Central Ohio in early June, the 31st annual Columbus 10K drew another outstanding field to downtown Columbus as the runners toed the starting line by the Ohio State House for the “Oldest Road Race in Columbus”. A pack of fifteen runners went out together for the first mile.
