John Rich, with Cowboy Troy, to headline 11th post-race concert with special guest, Heidi Newfield

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - On Saturday, April 24, 2010, the Country Music Marathon & ½ Marathon will celebrate its 11th running in the Music City. Award winning singer, songwriter and producer, John Rich, with special guest Cowboy Troy, is set to headline the post-race concert at the Bridgestone Arena on Saturday, April 24 at 7:00pm. For Rich, his performance will bring him full circle as he played on the finish line stage in 2001 - the second year of the event. Heidi Newfield will open the show along with new artist Jerrod Niemann.

Over the past several months, more than 2,900 elementary school students from more than 150 schools in Virginia and the U.S. have been participating in the Operation Smile Final Mile, a fitness program designed to teach children the importance of exercise, commitment and helping others. Operation Smile is a worldwide children's medical charity that performs free facial reconstructive surgery to children around the world.

Race record of more than 13,300 participate in 33rd edition

JACKSONVILLE - (March 13, 2010) - Mohamed Trafeh (Duarte, Calif.) took control from the gun to win his first U.S. title, running 42 minutes, 58 seconds Saturday morning at the USA 15K Championships in Jacksonville, Florida. After finishing as runner-up the past two years, Katie McGregor (St. Louis Park, Minn.) easily took the women's title in 49:51 at the 33rd Gate River Run.

INDIANAPOLIS - On Sunday, March 7, Michael Wardian, 35, (Arlington, Va.) earned his third straight USA 50K road title running 2 hours, 55 minutes, 50 seconds at the Caumsett State Park 50K in Huntington N.Y. Yolanda Flamino, 33, (Hancock, N.H.) won the women's 2010 national title in 3:34:26.

First time a single city is chosen for both men's and women's races

HOUSTON (Mar. 1, 2010) - The road to the 2012 Olympic Marathon in London will run through Houston. For the first time in the history of the U.S. Olympic Trials, one city will host the marathon for both men and women in the same year.

The 2010 AJC Peachtree Road Race will mark the third time in the past four years that the event has hosted of the men's national championship. three-time Olympian Abdi Abdirahman of Tucson, Ariz., and the reigning USA Men's 10K champion, clinched the title for the third year in a row at the 2009 Peachtree. Unfortunately for more than 6,000 runners, the snowy weather moved in on the Friday night before the popular Myrtle Beach Marathon & Half Marathon. The threat of slick roads and unsafe conditions for runners and volunteers forced the cancellation of the event by the city of Myrtle Beach.

Derartu Tulu of Ethiopia was the women's champion in 2:28:52 at the 40th edition.
