Mike Melton Mug Shot2.jpgSTUART, FL - The Marathon of the Treasure Coast Board of Directors have named Mike Melton as race director for the 2019 races, which will take place Sunday, March 3, 2019 in downtown Stuart, Florida.

Seven races will be offered again for 2019 - a full USATF-certified Marathon (26.2 miles) that will allow runners to qualify for the Boston Marathon, a Half Marathon (13.1 miles), a 2-person to 4-person Marathon Team Relay event, a traditional 10K and 5K race, along with a virtual race and challenge event.

World’s original all-women’s road race to be broadcast live from Central Park on USATF.TV

NEW YORK – The top three finishers from this year’s Boston Marathon – Des Linden, Sarah Sellers, and Krista DuChene – will line up together again in Central Park on Saturday, June 9 at the NYRR New York Mini 10K, a historic event that was established in 1972 as the world’s first road race exclusively for women.

CONWAY, AR — Brian Sieczkowski of Maumelle raced home as the overall winner May 5 of the annual Toad Suck Daze 10K in 36:04. Female champion Tia Stone of Searcy won in 38:53.

Shane Poland of Vilonia was second overall in 37:11. Third went to Dakota Fritts of Vilonia in 37:19.

INDIANAPOLIS – Bidding to host the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field has been reopened, USATF announced Tuesday. The USATF Board of Directors unanimously authorized the move amid continuing litigation surrounding construction of a new Hilmer Lodge Stadium at Mt. San Antonio College (Mt. SAC) in Walnut, California, and the resulting delays on planning for a successful 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Flynn, White Win at Aiken

AIKEN, SC — Ricky Flynn and Shawanna White were the winners April 28 of the Aiken Electric Coop Run United Half Marathon. Flynn finished in 1:10, a 5:21 mile pace. White, of Columbia, raced home in 1:21:30, a 6:14 mile pace.

Second overall was 60-year-old Marc Embler of North Charleston in 1:24:25. Isaac Homer, 16, of Lexington was third in 1:24:27.

LOUISVILLE, KY — Jeremy Johnson of Austin, Indiana, was the overall winner April 28 of the Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon in 2:21:19. Michael Deren of Louisville was second in 2:24:52, followed byt Tyler Cannon of New Orleans in 2:29. Fourth was Ernest Koech of Louisville in 2:31 while Daniel Lemelman of Brooklyn was fifth in 2:40:22.

Jenny Simpson Breaks U.S. 2-Mile Record

Jenny Simpson won her sixth title at the Drake Relays. This time, Jenny Simpson moved up to the two mile distance and broke the American record, with a fine 9:16.78! Prior to the race, Jenny told the Drake Relays media team that she knw it would be tough, as she was doubling her race distance, but she liked the challenge.

Who is Sarah Sellers?

Sarah Sellers finished second at the Boston Marathon as a virtual unknown.

She’s a nurse in Tucson, Arizona who ran at Weber State University in her hometown of Ogden, Utah until a foot injury sidelined her from being a top national distance runner.

DES MOINES, Iowa – A breezy, mostly sunny evening in Des Moines led to furious finishes at the USATF 1 Mile Road Championships Tuesday evening, as Riley Masters and Emily Lipari outlasted strong fields to claim victory, the first USATF Running Circuit title for either athlete.

The USATF 1 Mile Road Championships, hosted by the Grand Blue Mile, are the third stop on the 2018 USATF Running Circuit. Next up on the circuit, the USATF Half Marathon Championships take place in Pittsburgh on May 6.
