NEW ORLEANS — Beau Robinson and Rachel Paul were winners of the 110th Annual NOAC Turkey Day Race 5 miler at Tad Gormley Stadium, City Park, on Thanksgiving Day.

Robinson, 22, was overall winner in 25:12, followed by Paul Miller, 21, in 25:31, and Patrick Aucoin, 30, in 25:34.

COLUMBIA, SC — Chase Couch, 17, of Lexington, won the annual BGCM Turkey Day 5K in 17:35. Sean Marden, 28, and Drew Williams, 40, both of Columbia had strong runs, as well, finishing in 17:39 and 17:44.

Elle Ellender, 34, of Hilton Head, was female winner in a strong 17:46. Ashley Golbus, 19, of Irmo, was second in 20:11, and Chelsea Baker, 28, of Columbia, was third in 20:16.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA — Robert Carter of Melbourne, FL won the 3rd Annual Fast Before the Feast 5K on Thanksgiving morning, finishing in 17:03. Jordan Price of Newport News was second in 17:33, followed by Paul Speight of Hampton in 17:48.

NEW DELHI, INDIA — More than 30,000 runners reportedly braved toxic smog to run the Delhi Half Marathon on Sunday.

The Indian Medical Association had warned that a toxic smog had created a health emergency. Doctors asked citizens to not venture outdoors and the Delhi government said conditions were like a “gas chamber.”

Braxton Ran for Injured Officer

PORTSMOUTH, VA — Eight-year-old Braxton Lee of Gloucester, VA, ran in a relay at the Norfolk Harbor Half Marathon on Sunday for a very special reason. He was honoring wounded Portsmouth Police Officer Angelina Baaklini, who was shot Nov. 6 while on duty.

The youngster has run races in several states to raise awareness of violence against police officers.

MERIDIAN, MS — Preston Breazeale, 21, of Starkville, won the sixth annual Magnolia Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 18, finishing in 3:18:55. William Horn, 25, of Lauderdale, was second in 3:48:48 and Kevin Glauber, 24, of Vicksburg, finished third in 3:50:17.

HCRace1.jpgHATTIESBURG, MISS — Registration is now open for the 7th Annual Rise & Shine Half Marathon and 5K.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 7, at Hattiesburg Clinic’s main campus. Race day activities will begin with the half marathon at 7 a.m. and the 5K at 7:30. Both races start and finish at the clinic. Live entertainment and refreshments will be provided.

Gillette, Starosciak Win Marathon

FORT OGLETHORPE, GA — Jake Gillette of Goshen, IN, won the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon on Saturday, Nov. 11, finishing in 2:43:38. Women’s winner was Kaye Starosciak of Canton, GA, in 3:06:20.

Masters winneers were Peter Volgyese of Nashville, TN, in 3:02:57 and Holly Swinea of Ooltewah, TN, in 3:37:10.
