Treasured Chest Challenge Set
The Gasparilla Distance Classic half marathon at Tampa, FL, and the Donna Marathon at Jacksonville offer the Treasured Chest Challenge to fight cancer.
Marathon or half marathon runners in the Donna event who also complete the Gasparilla half marathon on Feb. 25 will receive a Treasured Chest Challenge hat and finisher’s medal.

Corbitt, Stone Win 15K
NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR — Brent Corbitt of Little Rock, Arkansas, won the River Trail 15K in 51:48.28 on Feb. 3. Brian Sieczkowski of Maumelle was second in 54:26.02. Cameron Beckett of Little Rock was third in 54:35.59. First master was Brad Leach of Heber Springs in 56:12.25.
Riley, Waters Win Sarasota
SARASOTA, FL — Blake Riley and Katie Waters, both of Sarasota, were winners of the Sarasota Music Half Marathon on Sunday, Feb. 4. Riley took the men’s title in 1:14:52, Waters was victorious among the women in 1:28:23.
Second-fifth males were Brian Ward of Venice in 1:21:48, Chris Petrock of Tampa in 1:22:10, John Stevenson in 1:23:11, and Joshua Kenworthy in 1:24:17.
Ramirez, Roehlig are Victors
DAYTONA BEACH, FL — Tommy Ramirez of Saint Cloud won the Daytona Beach Half Marathon in 1:19:40.9 on Sunday, Feb. 4. Joe Matuszczak of Deland was second in 1:22:35 and Hamid Kian of Jupiter third in 1:26:22.8.
Krista Roehlig of Oviedo was female champion (and third overall finisher) in 1:26:01.2. Heather Schulz of Orlando was second in 1:31:46.1 and Rebecca Gordon of Manetta, GA third in 1:32:38.6.
Water Drop Dash 5K Encourages Water Conservation Programs

Free Running Shoes to Kids
FORT WORTH, TX — The Cowtown Marathon has a program that gives over 5,000 free pairs of new running shoes to children of low income families. The Feb. 24th event is a non-profit and will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year.
Races held on Saturday, Feb. 24, will be kids and adult 5K races, 10K, half-marathon and marathon. On Sunday, an ultra marathon will be held.

Kenyan Wins Miami Marathon
MIAMI, FL — Hillary Too, 38-year-old Kenyan, won the Miami Marathon on Sunday, Jan. 28, in 2:23:02, overcoming windy conditions. Second was Tecklu Deneke of Ethiopia in 2:23:39.
Lyubov Denisova, 46, of Gainesville, was the women’s winner in 2:40:53. Lindseyn Scherf of High Falls, NY, was second in 2:48:34.
