ATLANTA — Ahimsa House, Georgia’s only nonprofit to help human and animal victims of domestic violence, will host its annual Walk, Wag & Run 5K and fun run on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Since 2004, Ahimsa House has provided more than 81,000 nights of emergency safe shelter for animals in abusive situations. This allows domestic violence victims the chance to look for safe housing, and 87% of clients have been reunited with their pets.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- Little Rock Marathon race directors announced today the theme for their upcoming race as 2019: A Race Odyssey. The 17th annual race weekend is March 2-3, 2019.

“While we can’t promise participants a journey through space and time, we can deliver a fun race and a good time,” said Race Director Geneva Lamm.

DONNA Weekend New Course

JACKSONVILLE, FL — The DONNA Marathon Weekend Feb. 8-10, 2019, will feature a new, flatter, and faster course with start and finish lines at the nexus of Neptune and Atlantic Beach.

Races include a 5K, half marathon and marathon. The races and the expo will take place on the island and runners will enjoy Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach. The intracoastal bridge will no longer be on the route.

Pop Up Miles Season 4 Kicks Off

RALEIGH, NC - Now in its fourth season, Sir Walter Running's free community track series, Pop Up Miles, returns to its standard Tuesday nights in June beginning June 5. The rotating venue series started in 2015, with runners finding out the Saturday before each Tuesday where the event would be held. Each week, there is an over 5:30 mile, an under 5:29 mile, a bonus event (5k, 400 meters), and a relay (4x400, 4x800).

Bells to Ward Off Bears

Several hundred runners carried small bells to scare away bears at a marathon on Rishiri Island off the coast of northern Japan.

No bears were seen but authorities are alert to the possibility as the peak of tourism nears.

Possum Trot 10K Saves Animals

ATLANTA, Ga. – For 40 years, the Possum Trot 10K has allowed runners to take part in a great race while helping save animals and all along the beautiful banks of the Chattahoochee River. This year, the race gets running June 16 at 7 a.m.

This is an Official AJC Peachtree Road Race Qualifying Event and is limited to 1,500 runners.

TAMPA, Fla./WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 30, 2018) — The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® has announced today a three-year extension of the partnership with the Built with Chocolate Milk campaign and the Milk Processor Education Board. The partnership renews Built with Chocolate Milk as the Official Recovery Beverage of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Built with Chocolate Milk will have a presence at all 19 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events across North America.
