Wings for Life World Run

SUNRISE, FL — Registration has opened for the fifth annual Wings for Life World Run. The charity race takes place simultaneously in locations all over world and will be represented in the U.S. by Sunrise, Florida - a location that has hosted the global run since the event’s inception in 2014. Up to 300,000 people are expected to join the global movement this year by running in events like the one in Sunrise or by participating remotely via the Wings for Life World Run app to raise money and awareness to find a cure for spinal cord injury.

Brooklyn to Manhattan Half

NEW YORK — An expected 22,500 runners will take to the streets of New York City on Sunday, March 18 in the 2018 United Airlines NYC Half, which will feature a completely redesigned course taking runners on a 13.1-mile tour of iconic city landmarks from Brooklyn to Manhattan, it was announced today by New York Road Runners and the City of New York.

Back2Back Marathons Set

Runners have a chance to run back to back races in Jackson, MS, and Gulf Shores, AL, on Jan. 27-28.

The Mississippi Blues Marathon will held Jan. 27 in Jackson, then the Big Beach Marathon will be held the next day at Gulf Shores. Bus transportation is being offered from Jackson to Gulf Shores and back to Jackson.

Pearce Wins Marathon

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — James Pearce of Rockville, MD, won the Freedom’s Run Marathon Sept. 30 in 2:47:36. Micah Mohler was second and Greg Horning third.

In the women’s division, Vivian Ruiz of Charles Town was the winner in 3:17:47, followed by Natalie Wanger of Woodbridge, VA.

Carr, Fisher Win Bluedoo

NEW ORLEANS — Ian Carr was overall winner of the Bluedoo Run two mile race Sept. 30, finishing in 9:31. Paige Fisher was female winner in 11:29. The race is a New Orleans Track Club Grand Prix event and was held at Tulane University Uptown.

Youth winners, 15 and under, were Cameron Kerley, 15, in 11:37 and Fiona Collins, 14, in 13:28.

RALEIGH, NC - After a sucessful fourth year of the Sir Walter Miler, and a third year of the popular Pop Up Miles series, Sir Walter Running has partnered with the City of Raleigh and Dorothea Dix Park to present "Pop Up Cross Country at Dix Park" on Tuesday nights in October.

Goncarovs, Nunn Win 10 Miler

GREENSBORO, NC — Andris Goncarovs, 25, was the winner of the Triad Ten Miler on Saturday, Sept. 23. Goncarovs, of Greensboro, raced home first in 53:52.4. Chris Jackson, also of Greensboro, was runner-up in 56:38.8. Chass Armstrong of Asheville was third in 57:00.9.

Sean Mardin Wins 5K

COLUMBIA, SC — Sean Mardin won the Running for Your Life 5K on Friday night, Sept. 22, in 18:21. Matt Gregory was second in 19:56. Third male was Matt Parris in 21:37.

Overall female winner Jennifer Lybrand (21:24) was third overall finisher in the race. Katelyn McElveen was second female in 25:15 and Savanna Donahue was third female in 26:32.

NEWPORT NEWS, VA — Nyandusi Omurwa, 33, of Fort Eustis, and Sheila Scotti, 30, of Hampton, were winners Sept. 23 of the Race for Hope for Africa 8K. Ombre finished in 30:30, Scotti in 41:04.

KINGSPORT, TN — Zachary Russell, 24, of Bristol and Lisa Hazlett, 40, of Gray were winners of the Bays Mountain 15 Mile Trail Race on Saturday, Sept. 23. Russell finished in 1:48:00, Hazlitt in 2:28:28.
