TAMPA, Fla./WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 30, 2018) — The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® has announced today a three-year extension of the partnership with the Built with Chocolate Milk campaign and the Milk Processor Education Board. The partnership renews Built with Chocolate Milk as the Official Recovery Beverage of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Built with Chocolate Milk will have a presence at all 19 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events across North America.

NEW ORLEANS — Max Miller and Rachel Paul were winners of the Greek Festival 5K on May 25. Miller, 28, finished in 16:25. Paul, 24, won the female division in 17:34.

Brian Lozes, 28, was second male in 16:27. Page Fisher, 28, was second female in 18:12.

cotton_row_header_2018-1_0.pngHuntsville, AL – Kenyan Linus Kiplagat, 23, broke a 35-year-old course record at the Mercedes-Benz Cotton Row 10K on Memorial Day. Kiplagat had a winning time of 28:39, more than 30 seconds faster than the previous record (29:10) set in 1983. Fellow Kenyan Simion Chirchir, 34, followed more than a minute back in 29:43.

Kenyan runners also took the next three spots, Kiproy Mutai, 31, was third (30:01), Jameson Wangechi, 22, fourth (30:08) and Eliud Ngetich, 24, fifth (30:09).

YORKTOWN, VA — Roger Hopper, 27, of Norfolk, won the Yorktown Freedom Run 8K on Memorial Day, finishing in 27:35. Second was Randy Shelton, 43, Mechanicsville, in 30:26. John Pigott, 43, of Williamsburg, was third in 31:15.

Arlington, VA – Jared Ward, 2016 U.S. Olympian, will deliver the keynote address at the 2018 RunPro Camp dinner on Friday, July 20. The RRCA’s RunPro Camp is designed to educate and inform competitive post-collegiate distance runners interested in pursuing a professional running career. This interactive seminar will be held July 20-21 near the Road Runners Club of America headquarters in Arlington, VA.

St. Petersburg, FL will again play host to the Road Race Management Race Directors’ Meeting Nov. 8-10. Greg Via, Global Director of Sports Marketing for Gillette, will give the keynote at the MarathonGuide.com dinner. His topic is "What Can Running Learn from Other Sports?" Via has a long history in running. Early in his career he was head cross-country coach at LSU and later Assistant Track and Field coach at the University of Tennessee.

historichalflogo.jpgQUANTICO, VA – Almost 5,700 runners from all 50 states and 14 countries convered on a hot Fredericksburg, VA to #RunWithTheMarines. Runners conquered the 13.1-mile Marine Corps Historic Half, the five mile Semper 5ive and the 18.1-mile Devil Dog Double, which encompasses both event distances and reward finishers with three medals. Spectators cheered on the runners throughout the course from the start and finish lines and through historic downtown Fredericksburg, VA.

HAMPTON, VA — Rowan Etheridge, 15, of Yorktown, was overall winner of the 7th Annual Fox Hill Community 5K in 17:38. Jakob Juhl of Poquoson was second in 18:47 and John Long third in 18:50.

Karen Sanzo, 41, of Hampton, successfully her title from last year, winning in 22:29. Second woman was Sheila Scott of Newport News in 22:58, followed by Jaime Lawson of Hampton in 25:29.

Shock, Ziegler RRCA Champs

COLUMBIA, SC — Matt Shock, 36, and Michelle Ziegler, 37, both of Greenville, SC, were RRCA state champions at the Governor’s Cup 5K on May 19. Shock’s overall winning time was 16:03. Ziegler was female winner in 18:32.

Drew Williams, 40, of Columbia, was male masters winner in 18:24. Sarah Allers, 57, of Columbia, was female winner in 21:38.
