COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The United States Olympic Committee today named Sarah Hirshland as its 12th chief executive officer. Hirshland, currently chief commercial officer for the United States Golf Association, brings a unique and proven set of skills and experiences to the USOC at a time of transformation and change for the organization.

Big Butt pic 1.jpgVAN WYCK, SC — Derek Hutton, 25, of Cayce, SC was the winner of the Big Butt 50K on a hot July Fourth, finishing in 3:45:17. Bill Shires, 53, of Charlotte, NC, was second in 3:59. Third was Dennis Randar, 27, of Fort Mill, SC, in 4:46:19. Fourth was Brad Marlow, 54, of Elgin, IL, in 4:58:31, while Paul Bottiglio, 45, of Charlotte, was fifth in 5:11:03.

LAKE PARK, NC — Caleb Boyd of Charlotte won the Common Heart Firecracker Run 10K on July 4 in 37:38.9. Second was Paul Halaburda of Indian Trail in 41:34.97, followed by Nathan Spear of Weddington in 42:11.93.

Kayla Bratcher of Monroe was female winner in 41:12.93. Siobhan Havlik of Indian Land was second in 44:57.12, followed by Sarah Starr of Waxhaw in 47:57.49.

HILTON HEAD, SC — Brent Martin of Wooster, OH, was the overall winner of the Firecracker 5K on July 4, finishing in 16:09. Second was Brett Burdick of Chicago in 16:25. Third was Francisco Ferre of Hilton Head in 16:36. Fourth-fifth were Cooper Castellan of Hickory, NC, in 17:17, and John Duberley of Bluffton, SC, in 17:28.

COLUMBIA, SC — Eric Ashton, 50, was the overall winner of the Born in the USA Four Miler on July 4 in a time of 22:00. Justin Bishop, 37, was second in 22:36, and Mike Schrum, 29, third in 22:58.

Sara Ashton, 33, was the first female in 24:39, followed by Ashley Golbus, 30, in 26:22, and Jennifer Kryzanowski, 31, in 27:27.

Sparks, Moore Win 10K

ASHLAND, KY — Eric Sparks won the Summer Motion 10K in 37:38. Missy Moore was female winner in 40:41 in the Saturday, June 30 event.
Second and third overall finishers were Grant Chaffin (39:48) and Jack Ditty (40:28).

In the 5K, Jacob Nakamura was the winner in 18:10, followed by Scott Hamm (18:39) and Jake Crawford (20:43). Female winner was Saige Foster in 24:44.
