BENTON, AR — Teen boys took the top 3 finisher places Feb. 25 at The Beat Goes On 5K.
Brandon Mann, 15, was the winner in 16:51.08, followed by Ethan Boyer, 16, in 16:33.62, and Johnny Chicas in 16:43.58. All three are from Bryant, Arkansas.

MOUNT VERNON, VA – Dash through history during the George Washington Patriot Run, a road race to enter the historic property at George Washington’s Mount Vernon! On Sunday, Sept. 10, the George Washington Patriot Run will host thousands of runners for its 5K and 10K races beginning at 8 a.m. This spectacular road race will take runners up the scenic George Washington Memorial Parkway.
DENVER, NC — The Valentine's 5K & Couples Run held Feb. 18 was deemed a big success.
Coach Melvin Morrison and Charles Whitley, race directors, said, "It was a great way to bring families together and to raise money to help families that have struggled this winter and to send team members to summer camp. Our sponsors were amazing in giving gift cards for runners to eat and shop after the race. Many families helped to give back to the community.”
Student athletes are reluctant to ‘blow the whistle’ on doping, research at Leeds Beckett University reveals.
Led by Dr Kelsey Erickson, a Research Fellow in the Carnegie School of Sport at Leeds Beckett, the research study published in the Journal of Psychology of Sport and Exercise, suggests that whilst current anti-doping efforts encourage and rely on whistleblowing, UK and US track and field student athletes are reluctant to whistleblow on doping.

“If you are a serious runner, then check out your time for the four-mile course,” she said. “If you love doughnuts, lots of doughnuts, then give the Challenge a try. If you can’t run a long distance, then grab some friends and do the relay where you each run or walk one mile. Wear a costume!”
FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — Kevin Brown, 35, of Boca Raton was first overall finisher in 2:41:25 of the Public Fort Lauderdale A1A Marathon Feb. 19. Bryan Huberty was second in 2:50:19, followed by Mikhail Proskurin in 2:55:17.
Female champion was Erica Lech, 39, of Sweden, who finished in 3:10:32. Tania Canterbury was second in 3:18:30, followed by Michelle Lankey in 3:23:57.
5K and mile races will provide assistance through registration fees and donations.
