TAMPA, Fla./COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. — IRONMAN announced that Little Debbie® snacks and Sunbelt Bakery® have renewed their title sponsorships of two of IRONMAN’s most popular North American races — Little Debbie® IRONMAN® Chattanooga and Sunbelt Bakery IRONMAN 70.3® Chattanooga.

DONNA Weekend New Course

JACKSONVILLE, FL — The DONNA Marathon Weekend Feb. 8-10, 2019, will feature a new, flatter, and faster course with start and finish lines at the nexus of Neptune and Atlantic Beach.

Races include a 5K, half marathon and marathon. The races and the expo will take place on the island and runners will enjoy Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, Jacksonville Beach, and Ponte Vedra Beach. The intracoastal bridge will no longer be on the route.

Pop Up Miles Season 4 Kicks Off

RALEIGH, NC - Now in its fourth season, Sir Walter Running's free community track series, Pop Up Miles, returns to its standard Tuesday nights in June beginning June 5. The rotating venue series started in 2015, with runners finding out the Saturday before each Tuesday where the event would be held. Each week, there is an over 5:30 mile, an under 5:29 mile, a bonus event (5k, 400 meters), and a relay (4x400, 4x800).

Bells to Ward Off Bears

Several hundred runners carried small bells to scare away bears at a marathon on Rishiri Island off the coast of northern Japan.

No bears were seen but authorities are alert to the possibility as the peak of tourism nears.

Possum Trot 10K Saves Animals

ATLANTA, Ga. – For 40 years, the Possum Trot 10K has allowed runners to take part in a great race while helping save animals and all along the beautiful banks of the Chattahoochee River. This year, the race gets running June 16 at 7 a.m.

This is an Official AJC Peachtree Road Race Qualifying Event and is limited to 1,500 runners.

TAMPA, Fla./WASHINGTON, D.C. (May 30, 2018) — The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series® has announced today a three-year extension of the partnership with the Built with Chocolate Milk campaign and the Milk Processor Education Board. The partnership renews Built with Chocolate Milk as the Official Recovery Beverage of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. Built with Chocolate Milk will have a presence at all 19 Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series events across North America.

Miller, Paul Win 5K Race

NEW ORLEANS — Max Miller and Rachel Paul were winners of the Greek Festival 5K on May 25. Miller, 28, finished in 16:25. Paul, 24, won the female division in 17:34.

Brian Lozes, 28, was second male in 16:27. Page Fisher, 28, was second female in 18:12.

cotton_row_header_2018-1_0.pngHuntsville, AL – Kenyan Linus Kiplagat, 23, broke a 35-year-old course record at the Mercedes-Benz Cotton Row 10K on Memorial Day. Kiplagat had a winning time of 28:39, more than 30 seconds faster than the previous record (29:10) set in 1983. Fellow Kenyan Simion Chirchir, 34, followed more than a minute back in 29:43.

Kenyan runners also took the next three spots, Kiproy Mutai, 31, was third (30:01), Jameson Wangechi, 22, fourth (30:08) and Eliud Ngetich, 24, fifth (30:09).

Hopper, Anderson Win 8K

YORKTOWN, VA — Roger Hopper, 27, of Norfolk, won the Yorktown Freedom Run 8K on Memorial Day, finishing in 27:35. Second was Randy Shelton, 43, Mechanicsville, in 30:26. John Pigott, 43, of Williamsburg, was third in 31:15.
