Walker, Furman Win Big Fork Trail Marathon

photo by David Samuel 002.JPGBIG FORK, AR — Justin Walker of Tulsa, OK, was the winner of the Athens-Big Fork Trail Marathon on Saturday, April 1, at Quachitea National Forest, finishing the rugged course in 4:50:50. Marc Gill and Chris Ho, both of North Little Rock, were second and third. Aaron Dickens of Van Buren was fourth in 5:21:56 and John Haddock of Springdale was fifth in 5:25:50.

EMERALD ISLE, NC — Heidi Tucker, 39, of Morehead City was overall winner of the Emerald Isle Marathon on March 25 in 3:06:17. Second place, and first male, was Brandon Harris, 30, of Denton, in 3:07:33.
Second and third male finishers were Olav Rueppel, 46, of Greensboro in 3:08:22 and Mitch Gay, 36, of Morehead City in 3:16:27.

NC USATF 5K Championship is one of the events.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC-- Twin City Track Club announced that Cook Medical will become the Presenting Sponsor for the Beat the Heat 5K events, which will be held on July 22 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Marthy, Day Win All American Marathon

FAYETTEVILLE, NC — Stephen Marthy and Jack Brunecz, both of Fayetteville, finished 1-2 in the All American Marathon on Sunday, March 26. Marthy won the marathon in 2:40:01. Brunecz was second in 2:51:38 and Michael Blanchard of Southern Pines was third in 2:57:17.

WB-Marathon-Logo.pngWRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC — Justin Pfruender of Winston-Salem won the Quintiles Wrightsville Beach Marathon on Saturday in 2:33:38. Brent Schouler of Hyannis, MA, was second in 2:34:41, followed by Walt Guyer of Charlotte in 2:36:45. Fourth went to Erasmo Ordonez of Harrells, NC, in 2:45:07, while Alexander Jeffs of Cary, NC, was fifth in 2:52:42.

albriede-300.pngNEW ORLEANS — Ian Carr raced home the winner Saturday in the 50th Annual Al Briede Gold Cup 5K at Audubon Park, finishing in 16:12. Lauren Ybarzbal was the female champion in 20:20.

Aaron Hunt, 15, was the youth winner in 19:48. Fiona Collins, 14, was the top youth female in 24:22.

Masters winners were Branden Wingate in 17:17 and Kirsten Reisig in 23:58.
