COLUMBIA, SC — Geoffrey Ngetich (1:08:10) and Cyrus Korir (1:08:29) of Chapel Hill, NC, finished 1-2 in the Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Half Marathon on May 20. Matt Galvin of Marietta, GA, was third in 1:12:13.

Top female was Zipporah Chebet of Chapel Hill in 1:22:26. Second went to Lacey Krout of Atlanta in 1:23:21, while Shawanna White of Columbia was third in 1:24:50.

HAMPTON, VA — Peter Klages (17:23) of Newport News and Christina Carney of Chesapeake (21:28) were winners May 20 of the 2nd Annual Hampton City Schools Run for the Stage 5K.

The event was held at the Matteson Trail in Hampton, a paved path around the Hamptons golf course. The event, which had 228 runners, was conducted by the Peninsula Track Club.

Race founded by Joan Benoit Samuelson

PORTLAND, Maine – Shipyard Brewing Company will release a new commemorative Export Ale can that celebrates the 20th running of the TD Beach to Beacon 10K. The race was founded in 1997 by legendary Maine athlete Joan Benoit Samuelson, winner of the gold medal in the 1984 Olympics women’s marathon and Maine’s most famous athlete.

WARTRACE, TN — Jason Parks of Decatur, GA, was the winner May 6 of the Strolling Jim 40 mile ultra in 4:18:06. David Riddle of Cincinnati, OH, was second in 4:35:35, followed by Ethan Coffey of Knoxville, TN, in 4:46:56.

HOT SPRINGS, AR — The Spa Pacers running club has selected seven high school students as winners of the Buzz Wilson Scholarships, which are awarded in memory of an active club member of many years “who provided encouragement to all runners and organized many running events in Hot Springs."

CLEVELAND, TN — Ryan Shrum, 49, of Chattanooga won the Cleveland Half Marathon here Saturday in 1:24:41, followed by Marvin Ruiz of Cleveland in 1:34:01. Russ Rogers of Chattanooga was third in 1:34:18.

Michelle Chapman of Cleveland was the women’s winner in 1:37:29. Kristen Mullett of Cleveland was second in 1:44:04, followed by Karen Hatfield of Morristown in 1:46:48.

LEESVILLE, SC — Andrew Harris, 25, of Charleston, was overall winner Saturday of the PoultryFest 5K, finishing in 16:52. Top female was Ollie Smith of Irmo in 23:37.

Male masters champ was Brian Leevan, 55, of Gilbert, in 22:53. Top masters female was Kimberly Hendrix of Leesville in 27:26.

COLUMBIA, SC — Eric Ashton, 49, and Shawanna White, 37, were the male and female winners Saturday of the Get in the Pink 10K. Ashton finished in 34:27. White, who finished third overall, won the female division in 37:53.

IRMO, SC — Michael Nance of West Columbia won the Acts Metro Empower Run 10K on Saturday, finishing in 39:17. Female champion was Megan Golbus of Irmo in 51:09.

Male masters winner was Mark Whetstone in 47:01. Female winner was Cristina Cameron of Irmo in 56:18.

In the 5K, Ryan Plexico raced home the victor in 18:32. Kimberly Hardin was female champion.
