USATF Masters 8K National Championship at Virginia Beach
VIRGINIA BEACH — The USA Track & Field [USATF] Masters 8k National Championships will be held in conjunction with the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend’s TowneBank Shamrock 8K on March 18 in Virginia Beach. With a $10,000 prize purse, this event is expected to attract hundreds of participants from across the country. For the past three years the USATF 8k Masters Championships have taken place in Southern California. To be eligible for USATF awards, a participant must be a 2017 member of the USATF and meet the eligibility requirements set forth by the USATF.
“We are delighted to bring our Masters 8K National Championship event to Virginia Beach as part of the Shamrock Marathon weekend of races. This kicks off the road racing portion of our Masters Grand Prix. From Virginia we go on to New England and then to Southern California for our next two events. J&A Racing has a great reputation in the Running Industry for putting on an excellent and fun event; we look forward to contributing to the excitement on the 18th of March. It should be the beginning of a productive and successful racing partnership, “said Mary Rosado, Chair of USATF’s Master LDR Committee.
“As a Masters runner myself, I am thrilled to be able to have this exciting championship event during the Yuengling Shamrock weekend. There is no doubt that the TowneBank Shamrock 8k course is flat, fast and festive, so we hope that the participants in the USATF Masters 8k Championships are able to enjoy their time in Virginia Beach, and see what Shamrock is all about,” said Jerry Frostick, J&A race Director.
