Turner, Judd win Kiawah Island Marathon

Wesley Turner, 28, of Danville, VA, won the Kiawah Island Marathon Dec. 13 in 2:29:52. Caitlin Judd, 31, of North Charleston, SC, won the female division in 2:54:55.

Zack Jordan, 21, of Ball Ground, GA, was second male in 2:40:41, followed by Justin Bishop, 33, of West Columbia, SC, in 2:44:27, Matthew Wallace, 25, of Durham, NC, in 2:44:50, and Michael Orifice, 29, of Faifield, CT, in 2:46:40.

Runnerup female was Brooke Waters, 38, of Shawnee, KS, in 3:00:07, followed by Ann Mazur, 29, of Charlottesville, VA, in 3:00:21, Jaime Schmidt, 32, of Lancaster, NH, in 3:04:39, and Meg Ashton, 25, of Sneads Ferry, NC in 3:04:55.

Half Marathon:
In the companion half marathon, Chris Capps, 23, of Willow Spring, NC, was overall winner in 1:10:30, followed by Graham Shorr, 23, of Charlotte, NC, in 1:11:26.

Jenny Perrottet, 34, of Wilmington, NC, was female winner in 1:18:44, followed by Alice Rogers, 36, of Charlotte in 1:21:54.

Masters winners were Irv Batten, 51, of North Charleston (1:17:52) and Tammy Lifka, 44, of Glen Ellyn, IL, (1:27:04). Grandmasters winners were Joe Hammond, 53, of Greenville, SC, (1:22:53) and Ruth Marie Embler, 57, of North Charleston (1:33:47).

A new South Carolina record appears to have been set in the 65-69 age group with Linda Clarkson, 66, of Johns Island finishing in 1:51:49, which is faster than the listed state record.
