Cary, NC – For the first time in its six runs the Allscripts Tobacco Road Marathon (TRM) presented by Inside-Out Sports will be part of the USA Track & Field (USATF) North Carolina championship. Named by Runner’s World Magazine as one of America’s top marathons the TRM continues to enhance its reputation as a “must do” event for runners. TRM, a homegrown, all-volunteer event will exceed one half-million dollars ($500,000) in charitable giving at its March 15, 2015 running.

“We are honored to be a part of the USA Track & Field North Carolina state championship,” says TRM President, Founder and ten-time Boston Marathon Qualifier Kazem Yahyapour. “We give all our proceeds to charity and believe this relationship will attract more runners and sponsors to our charitable efforts.”

The 2015 USATF NC state championship will consist of eight races of varying lengths. They are “races within races” taking place concurrently with host events like TRM. Medals are provided along with cash awards to the first three finishers in men’s and women’s divisions overall and master’s. TRM cash awards overall are: $750, $500 and $250. Master’s prizes are: $300, $200 and $100. For details check the USATF Web site.

“We are excited TRM has joined the USATF North Carolina Long Distance Running State Championship (LDR),” says Jordan Zwick, USATF Treasurer and LDR Women’s Chair. “This race is important to our community bringing runners from around America to our American Tobacco Trail. It’s a first class race and gives significantly to charity. This is a long term partnership of giving back to our community.”

All TRM proceeds go to these charities: JDRF, the Wounded Warrior Project, the Red Cross and the Rails to Trails Conservancy as well as Wake County Parks and Recreation.

The Tobacco Road Marathon Association is a non-profit organization dedicated with its sponsors to providing financial assistance to its partner charities by channeling the passions of the North Carolina Triangle area’s running community into a powerful force for good.

The mission of USATF North Carolina is to provide vision and leadership to the sport of track and field in North Carolina and to promote the pursuit of excellence from youth to masters, from grassroots to Olympic Games.
