The following are race results and comments from top finishers in the marathon, half marathon, and wheelchair competitions:

Marathon men:

1. Drew Mueller 2:32:35 - University City, MO

2. Benjamin Kopecky - 2:34:54 - Brentwood, MO

3. Jeremy Provence - 2:36:42 – Clarksville, AR

1. Tia Stone - 2:59:13 - Searcy, AR

2. Amy Natalini - 3:01:47 - Barksdale AFB, LA

3. Amy Landes - 3:06:16 - Glendale, MO

FIRST PLACE MALE:

Drew Mueller – University City, MO

“Whoever put the hill at mile 25 is pretty cruel. The weather was perfect and the crowd was amazing. It was my first marathon. I just got out really conservative and someone else got out pretty hard. I just slowly started reeling them in.”
SECOND PLACE MALE:

Ben Kopecky – Brentwood, MO:

“It was a little rainy at points, but fantastic weather in general. It was a great course, got to see a lot of the neighborhoods. It’s my first Little Rock Marathon. I’m trying to do 50 marathons in 50 states; this is my 20th. You always try and put your best out there and I was happy to come in second.”

FIRST PLACE FEMALE:

Tia Stone – Searcy, AR:

“This was my fifth Little Rock Marathon and this was my fastest time. I’m 39 and I really wanted to go sub 3:00. I missed it the last few years so I’m very happy. I love winning this race, but if I had to choose between winning it and running sub 3 hours, I’d choose sub 3. I saw my kids throughout the course, they have been cheering for me because they know how much I have trained for this.”

SECOND PLACE FEMALE:

Amy Natalini – Barksdale AFB, LA

“We love this, this is the second time we have come back. I just ran the Cow Town Marathon last week so I wasn’t sure where I was going to be on the course. I could see the woman in front of me so it was awesome to have that target in front of me to keep me going.”

2. Carolyn Yang – 1:25:53 – Rogers, AR

3. Jaime Breshears - 1:31:59 - Archie, MO

FIRST PLACE MALE:

Derek Lee – Springfield, MO

“It was a good race and a good tune up for running Boston in 5 weeks. It’s my 4th or 5th best time effort and I ran it solo so I as happy with that. I want to thank the volunteers and police, a race like this takes a lot of support to put on a race like this.”

FIRST PLACE FEMALE:

Melissa Hambuchen – Conway, AR

“The race was awesome. I started pretty conservative so the last half I was able to pick it up. I finished pretty strong I thought. There was one girl who I made friends with along the way, we kind of ran together at the first half, and I kind of pulled away in the second half.”

WHEELCHAIR

1. Ronald Malik – 2:05:29 – Tremont, IL

2. Richard Vaughn – 5:11:16 – Jacksonville, AR

FIRST PLACE WHEELCHAIR ATHLETE:Ronald Malik - 2:05:29 Tremont, IL

“I am doing 50 races in 50 states in 50 months. I just want to prove to myself that I can still do it. At my age, every race I do says I’m still alive. You gotta get out and try. You finish the first time or finish the last.”
