world record.jpg The Florida Striders (http://FloridaStriders.com) have established a world record for the 100 x 5K relay. The 100 runners ran the relay in 37 hours, 12 minutes, 53.66 seconds from Dec. 10-12.

The record will be submitted to the Guiness Book of World Records and a race official said all requirements were met for the record-setting event, which included video taping the entire relay. Officials send congratulations and thanks to all participants and volunteers.

The Florida Striders raised over $6,000 for the Donna Foundation, which raises money to assist area women battling breast cancer. The foundation was started by Donna Deegan, anchor for First Coast (TV) News in Jacksonville. Deegan is a breast cancer survivor and her foundation has helped over 1,000 First Coast women.
