(October 8, 2009) – The St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon has reached full capacity with 8,000 registered participants. The half marathon is one of four races of the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend to be held December 5 which includes a marathon, Memphis Grizzlies House 5K and the new St. Jude Memphis Family Race. With the addition of the St. Jude Memphis Family Race, families with children who are 11 years old and younger can participate together on race day.

Limited entries are still available for the marathon, 5K and family race. Interested participants can check registration availability and register only online at www.stjudemarathon.org. All races benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, one of the world’s premier pediatric cancer research centers.

In addition to the 8,000 participants in the St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon, the registration cap was extended for the St. Jude Memphis Marathon and the Memphis Grizzlies House 5K allowing 3,500 registrants for the marathon and 4,000 in the 5K. As a result, more than 15,500 participants will converge on downtown Memphis on race day.

Race participants can further help in the fight against childhood cancer and other deadly diseases by joining the St. Jude Heroes Team Challenge and raising funds for St. Jude by obtaining pledges from family and friends. Last year, more than 2,300 St. Jude Heroes participated in the race weekend and raised more than $1.9 million for St. Jude. To register for any of the races and for more information about the St. Jude Heroes Charity Athlete Program, visit www.stjudemarathon.org.

For the first time in the seven year history of the race weekend, marathon and half marathon participants will run through the St. Jude campus, between miles four and five, passing patient care facilities and research buildings that are integral to the St. Jude mission of finding cures and saving children.

The St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend, presented by Juice Plus+®, is a collaborative effort between St. Jude and the Memphis Runners Track Club. Last year, the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend races welcomed 14,000 participants. For more information, visit www.stjudemarathon.org.
