PEACHTREE CITY, GA – It was a sea of pink as Divas® Running Series participants flocked to Shakerag Knoll for the Divas® Half Marathon & 5K in Peachtree City this past Saturday. Continental Event & Sports Management, the producers of the event, took participant feedback to heart and moved what used to be a fall race in early September, to the spring, in search of cooler temperatures. It was a move that paid off as 60-degree weather welcomed runners as they meandered through town, on cart paths and down beautiful, tree-lined streets.

In what proved to be a 5K course record for this event, Emily Enriquez, a local woman from Peachtree City, took first in a time of 18 minutes and 49 seconds. Hiroko Guarnieri, from Villa Rica, Georgia, placed second with a time of 22 minutes and 22 seconds. Guarnieri bettered her time by two minutes when she took first place in the 5K back in 2016, the last time this event was held. Thirteen-year-old Gabriela Osornio, from Marietta, Georgia, came in third place with a time of 23 minutes and 47 seconds.

Locals from Peachtree City and Fayetteville, Georgia swept the top three spots in the half marathon. Jessica Ridley came in first place with a time of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 32 seconds. She crossed the finish line more than eight minutes ahead of second-place finisher, Mary Thompson. Thompson finished with a time of 1 hour, 40 minutes and 53 seconds. Jennifer Kalen rounded out the top three with a time of 1 hour, 42 minutes and 36 seconds.

“Peachtree City once again welcomed us with a warm embrace as the Divas® Running Series event shifted from a September date to a first-ever March date,” said Robert Pozo, CEO and President of Continental Event & Sports Management. “The weather was absolutely fantastic as participants filled the roads, and golf cart paths for which Peachtree City is so famous for, with pink tutus and boas. The police, fire and CVB were great partners in making this event a success.”

The weekend began with the Health & Fitness Boutique, held at the Kedron Fieldhouse & Aquatic Center, where participants picked up their pink tutus and tech tees. Along the course, runners passed the infamous boa and tiara station so they could cross the finish line in style. Finishers were presented with a sparkling medal featuring a boa and tiara design, highlighted by a removeable heart-shaped charm compatible with Pandora® and celebrated their accomplishment with a flute of LiDestri Pink Lemonade cocktail.
