13.jpg The 2015 Jeff Galloway Race Weekend in Atlanta, GA is only two months away, but registration is already at an all-time high with nearly 2,000 runners/walkers having committed so far. Among them is “Amazing Grace,” which must have picked her “Lucky 13” number the day she was born.

Amazing Grace, as she is called by her family and friends will turn 13 years old on December 13, 2015, when she will run Jeff Galloway’s 13.1 mile race, the Half Marathon distance.

What makes her amazing is that Grace Ford was born 1lb 13 ounces at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA on December 13, 2002. Being born prematurely with a brain hemorrhage and having heart surgery at eight days old, she fought back and turned into a beautiful, talented girl. She has been taking ballet for six years, and has learned the extremely difficult technique known as en Pointe. Last year alone, she read over 61 books and 6.5 million words, making her the top reader in her entire middle school.

Grace has run numerous 5k’s since she was 5 years old and has run two 10k’s this year and is now training for her first half marathon, 13.1 miles, at the 2015 Jeff Galloway Race Weekend on her 13th birthday. Grace hopes that on December 13, 2015, running her first 13.1 mile race will be another “Lucky 13” event.

With the words of Jeff Galloway: “Running is great because of the brain circuits that are turned on for a better attitude, more vitality and personal empowerment, because of the latter, runners tend to be happier and accomplish some amazing things.” That, for sure, she has done.

For Amazing Grace, who has had to fight for everything she had accomplished, her Lucky 13 streak nowhere near finished.

Grace is looking forward to the Jeff Galloway race weekend, one of the 10 Atlanta Bucket List events in 2015.
