JG race.jpg In its very first year, the Inaugural Jeff Galloway 13.1 Half Marathon and Barb’s 5K had outstanding participation numbers and atmosphere. The Jeff Galloway 13.1 and Barb’s 5K, held in December, had close to 2,800 participant registrations, including virtual participants. (

Runners from a wide area participated in Jeff Galloway’s first race weekend in his hometown of Atlanta, GA. The very first Jeff Galloway 13.1 and Barb’s 5K saw runners from out of the region — the West Coast, Midwest, Northeast, and even from Israel and England. Runners from ages 10 to 80 participated in the race weekend.

The races saw everything from runners completing their first half marathon to families and friends showing support to their loved ones. Tami Gerke, who in celebration of her 50th birthday ran 12 half marathons in 12 months through 2014, was surprised in the last mile by family and training partners by running the last mile with her in honor of her milestone. LA Orio shared her story and love for the Galloway Training Programs and “Galloway Family” and was out to show her support and love for running along with the transformation and value it was able to add to her life. She had successfully trained with the Galloway program to become a runner.

Jeff and Barb Galloway said of the weekend, “We are so blown away by the turnout of the very first annual Jeff Galloway 13.1 and cannot believe how many new and existing “Galloway Family” members have shown their support and made this race weekend more than either of us could ever have imagined. And to all of those participating in the virtual race options, you’re a part of the Galloway family and we’re just as thankful for your support as well.”

The Second Annual Jeff Galloway Race Weekend has already added a Kid’s run and the Holiday Costume Contest looks to grow in popularity. Hundreds of registrations have already come in for the 2015 weekend. To register for the 2015 weekend events, go to
