YORKTOWN, VA — Craig Hymes, 54, of Yorktown, raced home first on Saturday, Feb. 11, to win the 10-Mile Run for the Heart, finishing in 1:05:34. Harrison Chaires, 26, of Virginia Beach was second in 1:06:37 and Logan Jackson, 14, of Yorktown was third in 1:06:47.

Christin Newman, 25, of Norfolk was the women’s winner in 1:06:37, followed by Jackie Hoffman, 24, of Chesapeake in 1:10:57, and Nina Parziale, 14, of Williamsburg in 1:18:51.

The fifth annual event was held on the tour roads of the Yorktown Battlefield, starting and finishing near Surrender Field. After four years of bad or questionable weather, including three years when ice and snow caused a postponement, the weather was near perfect for running — cloudy with hints of sunshine, temp of 49 degrees at the race start, and a cool breeze during the race, which was sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council 5480 with proceeds benefiting the American Heart Association.

Finish line and results services were provided by the Peninsula Track Club. A copy of the results, links to pictures from the race and
