Five Team USA Minnesota Runners to Compete at USA Outdoor Championships in Eugene June 25-28

05_teamusamn_logo.gifMinneapolis/St. Paul - June 23, 2009 - Five Team USA Minnesota distance runners will compete at the 2009 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held June 25-28 at historic Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon in Eugene. The runners and their qualifying times are:

. Katie McGregor - 10,000 meters (32:14.57)
. Josh Moen - 10,000 meters (28:26.26)
. Carrie Tollefson - 5000 meters (15:35.33)
. Emily Brown - 5000 meters (15:37.32)
. Meghan Armstrong - 5000 meters (15:41.09)

McGregor and Moen will compete in the 10,000 meter events on Thursday evening, June 25. The 5000 meter races will be held on Friday evening, June 26. At stake are spots on the U.S. team for the IAAF World Championships in Athletics which will be held Aug. 15-23 in Berlin, Germany. The top three in each event will qualify for Worlds if they are also able to obtain an entry standard time.

The USATF Outdoor Championships will be televised (all times Eastern) on June 26 on ESPN from 8-10 p.m., on June 27 on ESPN from 7:30-9:30 p.m., and on June 28 on NBC from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Grandma's Marathon/Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon - June 20
At the 33rd annual Grandma's Marathon in Duluth on June 20 - on a morning marked by high humidity and temperatures reaching into the 80s - Chris Lundstrom placed 10th in a time of 2:24:11 (winning time was 2:15:13).

In the companion Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon, Matt Gabrielson crossed the line in fourth place with a time of 1:05:36 (winning time was 1:05:15), and Michelle Lilienthal placed sixth in the women's field with a time of 1:18:02 (winning time was 1:11:57).
