Derek Hutton, Shawanna White Win Day Break 10 Miler

COLUMBIA, SC — Derek Hutton, 24, of Cayce, was overall winner of the Day Break 10-Miler on Saturday, finishing in 1:00:53. Top female was Shawanna White, 37, of Columbia in 1:01:10.

Anton Bodourov, 46, of Columbia was second male in 1:01:13, followed in third place by Seth Jenny of York in 1:02:25.

Second and third females were Mary Claire Cox, 40, of Columbia in 1:05:51 and Jennifer Kyrzanowski of Lexington in 1:10:58.

Masters winners were Larry Jourdain (1:04:23) of Sandy Run and Wendy Hart ((1:08:13) of Lexington. Grandmaster winners were Eric Sabin (1:09:23) and Anita Recchio (1:24:47), both of Columbia. Senior grandmaster winners were Mike Compton (1:22:44) of Columbia and Nancy Anderson (1:41:49) of Spartanburg. Peter Mugglestone, 72, of Columbia won the Veteran Masters Overall in 1:43:19.

In the companion 5K, Ryan Plexico, 33, of Chapin raced home first in 18:10, followed by Chris Conrick, 13, of Lexington in 18:46, and Jeff Brandenburg, 50, of Columbia in 18:59.

In the female 5K, Cymbeline Wilke, 34, of Lexington won in 20:10. A highlight was 8-year-old Kendra Miles of Lexington finishing as second female overall in 21:42, which is believed to be a state record for her age. In third place was Gabbi Hart, 15, of Lexington in 21:43.
