Cheptoek, Franks take wins at Germantown Half Marathon

germantownlogo.jpgPatrick Cheptoek, 26, of Bowling Green, KY, won the 15th annual Germantown Half Marathon on March 17 in Germantown, TN. Cheptoek had a winning time of 1:06:59. Daniel Kirwa, 26, of Searcy, AR, the 2012 winner, was second in 1:07:10 and Wojciech Kopec, 26, also of Searcy, AR, finished third in 1:07:51.

Meggan Franks, 29, of Starkville, MS, easily won the women’s race in 1:23:59. Franks was third in the Rocket City Marathon in December. Rita Jorgensen, 24, of Memphis finished second in 1:29:02 and Erica Singleton, 30, of Memphis was third, running 1:32:23.

Jonah Tanui, 41, of Greenbrier, AR, led the male masters in 1:19:49, while Lesley Brainard, 42, of Collierville, took the women’s win in 1:33:39.

gplogo1.jpgFrank Buscher, 54, of Memphis was the male grandmasters winner in 1:24:54. Sixty-year-old Roberta Villneff of Mooresville, NC, led the women in 1:41:48.

The Germantown Half Marathon is part of the Running Journal Grand Prix.
