Charity for Best Damn Race in Savannah, GA Chosen

bdr-logo-3-275x270.pngSAVANNAH, GA – Special Olympics Georgia Area 17 has been chosen as a charity partner for the Inaugural Best Damn Race in Savannah on Feb. 16, 2019. Special Olympics Georgia Area 17 (Chatham, Effingham, Bryan, Liberty and Long counties) is honored to be a beneficiary of this great event.

For more than 48 years, Special Olympics Georgia has been spreading the message that people with intellectual disabilities can – and will – succeed when given the chance. The proceeds from Best Damn Race will benefit the Special Olympics Georgia Area 17 local games held twice a year at Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus.

“Our organization is excited and honored to be chosen as the charity partner for this event,” commented Georgia Milton-Sheats, CEO of Special Olympics Georgia. “We have such a strong, longstanding friendship with Georgia Southern University Armstrong Campus and are looking forward to being back there for Best Damn Race’s first event in Savannah, Georgia.”

The Best Damn Race, Savannah, Georgia ( features a Half Marathon and 5K at Forsyth Park. The Best Damn Race is a running series created for runners by runners and aims to provide a big race experience at a local race price. The series features races throughout Florida in Jacksonville, Safety Harbor and Orlando, plus New Orleans, Louisiana and Savannah, Georgia. Best Damn Race is also supporting Special Olympics in their other four races; Special Olympics Florida for their races in Safety Harbor, FL, Jacksonville, FL & Orlando, FL and Special Olympics Louisiana for the race in New Orleans, LA.
