2010 GORE-TEX TransRockies Run Now Open for Registration

Date:
10/29/2009 - 10:24

Transrock_LOG_4C_09-200.gifRegistration for the 2010 GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run is now officially open, an early initiative designed to manage the increased interest in the unique event. Runners from all over the world will be signing up for one of the coveted entries to take on this spectacular challenge that spans much of the breadth of the Colorado Rockies and that is now a fixture on the global running scene. The field, which has doubled in size each of the two previous years, will be limited to 200 teams of two, which will compete in five different categories: Open Men, Open Women, Open Mixed, Masters Men (80+ combined ages) and Masters Women.

The fourth edition of the GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run is scheduled to take place August 22 - 27, 2010 -- starting in Buena Vista, Colorado and finishing in Beaver Creek, Colorado. Like 2009, the 2010 route will cover over 100 miles of single-track and double track through the historic wild west of the high Colorado Rockies. Along the way, runners will travel along the Continental Divide, cross high mountain summits, traverse alpine meadows and enjoy a true wilderness experience.

From campfires and hot chocolate each night to delicious communal meals and a special sense of camaraderie built during six days of shared effort, the GORE-TEX® TransRockies Run is a completely unique and rewarding way to push limits and enjoy the epic trails of the Rockies. In a comprehensive participant survey from last year’s field, an astonishing 99% reported overall satisfaction from last year’s race.

“After selling out in 2009,” said Event Director Aaron McConnell, “We need to establish our participant field as early as possible. Our permits are very strict in limiting the size of the field, so it is likely that we’ll be sold out as early as February.”

McConnell added “We are really proud of the survey results and the incredible satisfaction of the participants. 99% said they would recommend the race to their friends and that they absolutely received the value for their money. Our fantastic partners GORE-TEX® and Salomon are an enormous part of the success of this run and we are all looking forward to welcoming them back in 2010.”

Those who are determined to do the race but who haven’t chosen a team-mate yet don’t have to wait and can sign up now and then confirm their partner by July 15th, 2010. For full package details, route information and conditions please visit www.transrockies.com.
