Woodstock National 5K Champs

ANNISTON, AL — Francis Waithaka and Gladys Cheboi, both of Homewood, were winners of the Woodstock National 5K on Aug. 4.

Waithaka finished in 15:13 to finish ahead of Fred Kosgei (15:45) and Ethan Strand(15:50) both of Birmingham, in the overall race. Cheboi finished in 17:323 to lead Purity Munene (17:50) and Elena Kidd (17:57) to the finish. All are from Homewood.

Other winners in the national RRCA championship race:

— Pete Gibson, 62, of Murfreesboro, NC, won the male masters division in 19:04.

— Eugenie Candon, 59, of Huntsville, AL, was female masters winner in 21:38.

— Shawn Garvey, 53, of Anniston, was male grandmasters winner in 20:29.

— Roberta Hauck, 51, of Huntsville, AL, was female grandmasters champion in 21:38.

— Hank Brown, 65, of Vestavia Hills, was male great grandmasters champ in 20:57.

— Leslie Latterman, 60, of Pulaski, TN, was female great grandmasters winner in 26:44.

— Amanda Williams, 36, of Anniston, was female athena winner (160 lbs) in 26:27.

— Justin Hartley, 35, of Alexandria, was male clydesdale winner in 25:11.

— Melvin Walker, 81, of Anniston, was the oldest finisher in 5l:04.

— Youngest finisher was Jameson Sivak, age 4, of Glencoe, AL, who finished in 50:39.
