Arlington, VA - Since 1996, the RRCA has awarded grants totaling over $450,000 through the Roads Scholar® program. The goal of the program is to assist American post collegiate runners who show great promise to develop into national and world-class road running athletes. The grants awarded by the RRCA go directly to the athletes to help support their goals of becoming world-class distance runners. While traditionally the RRCA has distributed six grants, the strong credentials and impressive potential of this year’s pool of applicants, coupled with the ability to lay the groundwork for qualification in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics afforded the expansion of the 2013-14 class to eight recipients.

EmmaMoses.jpgTo me and many others in my running community, there is nothing better than seeing the joy and excitement in the eyes of a child when finishing a run. For one soft-spoken young lady, the sparkle in her eyes when she’s running says more than any mere words could convey. Emma Moses, 12, of Lakeland, FL, has been running for a little over a year but has taken to it like a fish to water.
