The new marathon world record is 2:03:23 after Wilson Kipsang of Kenya ran the fastest marathon ever Sunday in winning the Berlin Marathon.

It was the eighth time a world record has been set in Berlin, the fastest course in the world, and lowered the previous record by 15 seconds, also set in Berlin by fellow Kenyan Patrick Makau.

The women's race was won by Florence Kiplagat of Kenya in 2:21:13. A new over-40 world record was set in the women's race as Irina Mikitenko of German finished in 2:24:54.

INDIANAPOLIS – Held in just over two months, USA Track & Field’s inaugural .US National Road Racing Championships in Alexandria, Va., provides a rare opportunity for runners of all abilities – from joggers to weekend warriors to serious racers – to compete and mingle with elite runners in a single race that supports all groups.

Announced February 13, the .US National Road Racing Championships on Nov. 17 will provide $100,000 in prize money to elite athletes who have qualified for the race by competing in USATF USA Running Circuit (USARC). USARC races annually provide nearly $1 million in prize money to top U.S. road racers.

A commanding collection of the world’s best marathoners will vie for the New York and 2012–2013 World Marathon Majors (WMM) titles at the 2013 ING New York City Marathon on November 3. Reigning champion and course record-holder Geoffrey Mutai will take on 2013 IAAF World Championships marathon champion and 2012 Olympic Games men’s marathon winner Stephen Kiprotich, while defending champion Firehiwot Dado will battle two-time IAAF World Championships marathon champion and 2010 ING New York City Marathon champion Edna Kiplagat and 2012 Olympic Marathon silver medalist Priscah Jeptoo, it was announced today by New York Road Runners president and CEO Mary Wittenberg.

Team Red White & Blue has come aboard as a partner for the 2013 .US National Road Racing Championships, USA Track & Field (USATF) announced. Slated for Nov. 17 in Alexandria, Va., the race features a 12 km, 5 km run/walk and ½ mile kids’ race. It is both an all-comers, community event and a USATF National Championship for elite and masters athletes.

Rock 'n' Roll St. Pete Cancelled

The Feb. 9, 2014 Rock 'n' Roll St. Pete Half Marathon has been cancelled by Competitor Group. The two-year-old race had a significant drop-off in attendance in this year's event.
"After a careful evaluation, we have made the difficult business decision to cancel the 2014 Rock 'n' Roll St. Pete Half Marathon and focus our resources on the Women's Running Half Marathon and the TriRock Clearwater Triathlon," according to the announcement.
