Jaggers was elected to the South Carolina Road Runners Hall of Fame in 1992. A noted statistician, he has compiled an exhaustive list of records from races across South Carolina. Jaggers has become known as the historian of one of the state's favorite races, the Cooper River Bridge Run 10K, held in Charleston, SC. Jaggers’ new book about the race, Charleston’s Cooper River Bridge Run, will be published this month by Evening Post Books, a division of Evening Post Publishing.

Two-time race champion and 1984 Olympic Marathon gold medalist eyes 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier; four-time champion Bill Rodgers also to serve as Grand Marshal of 115th running

BOSTON - (April 11, 2011) - The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has announced that Olympic gold medalist and two-time Boston Marathon champion Joan Benoit Samuelson will compete in the 115th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday, April 18. The 53-year-old Maine native will run the Boston Marathon for the first time since 1993. Benoit Samuelson will start among the Elite Women at 9:32am ET that will include approximately 67 of the world's top female marathoners.

Trafeh also earns Equalizer Bonus for first person across the finish line; nearly 15,000 finishers, a race record, at 34th edition

gate river run.jpgINDIANAPOLIS - (March 12, 2011) - Both Mo Trafeh (Duarte, Calif.) and Jen Rhines (Mammoth Lakes, Calif.) won their second USA road titles of 2011 at the USA 15K Championships Saturday morning in Jacksonville, Florida. This year marked the 18th year that the Gate River Run hosted the national championships. Trafeh and Rhines were also the respective men's and women's champions at the USA Half Marathon Championships on January 29 in Houston.

U.S. finisher total surpasses ½ million mark for the first time; more all-time records for the classic distance; ING New York City Marathon sets another world record as largest ever

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - (March 16, 2011) - Despite the lingering recession, "marathon mania" continued in the U.S. with another record year of growth as U.S. marathons in 2010 had an estimated 507,000 finishers, an 8.6% increase from 2009, the second largest increase in the past 25 years (U.S. marathons grew 9.9% in 2009).

This Athlete Spotlight is dedicated to Sally Meyerhoff, 27, who tragically lost her life on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 in a cycling accident in Maricopa, Arizona. The 2009 USA 25K road champion was a 2012 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifier with a marathon personal record of 2:35:49 that she set at the 2009 USA Marathon Championship hosted by Medtronic Twin Cities. The seven-time Arizona state champion also finished 20th at the 2008 U.S. Women's Olympic Marathon Trials in Boston, clocking 2:39:39.
