Striders Celebrating 40 Years

The club is also inviting new members with a Couch to 5K “Judgment Free” Beginner Running Class. Registration for the training includes a one-year club membership.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Marathon race officials announced that registration has opened for the Little Rockers Kids Marathon. The Little Rockers Kids Marathon is a family-friendly event to be held March 2, 2019. The Little Rockers Kids Marathon is a project of Little Rock Parks & Recreation and is part of Little Rock Marathon Weekend, which is presented by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

The mission of the Little Rockers Kids Marathon is to provide children in 1st through 6th grades the opportunity to enhance their physical activity while focusing on reaching a goal. Participants improve their fitness level by following a fun, simple running and/or walking program.

Festival-2013-FLAG-endurace-sports-wire-1-275x97.jpgBALTIMORE, MD ─ On the heels of last year’s successful finish line relocation to the Inner Harbor, Corrigan Sports Enterprises announced today the 2018 Baltimore Marathon course will remain mostly the same as 2017 with some additional improvements. The most significant change occurs between miles 13 and 14 where after bearing right around the circle on President Street runners will funnel over the recently opened Central Avenue Bridge and around Harbor Point’s Central Plaza before making their way back to Boston Street and embark on the second half of their 26.2-mile journey.

HAMPTON, VA — Chrristopher Cox, 37, of Norfolk won the 8th Annual Transitions 5K in 18:00. Female winner was Meghan Olson, 27, of Yorktown, in 25:32. The race, conducted by the Peninsula Track Club, was held on the Matteson Trail that circles The Hampton's Golf Course.

ANNISTON, AL — Francis Waithaka and Gladys Cheboi, both of Homewood, were winners of the Woodstock National 5K on Aug. 4.

Waithaka finished in 15:13 to finish ahead of Fred Kosgei (15:45) and Ethan Strand(15:50) both of Birmingham, in the overall race. Cheboi finished in 17:323 to lead Purity Munene (17:50) and Elena Kidd (17:57) to the finish. All are from Homewood.

BATESVILLE, AR — Brian Sieczkowski of Maumelle raced home in 23:37.77 to win the White River 4-Mile Classic and the RRCA Arkansas state title on Aug. 4. Female winner was Carli Langley of Little Rock in 24:29.08.

ARLINGTON, VA - Since 1996, the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) has awarded grants totaling more than $590,000 to 124 athletes through its Roads Scholar® grant fund. This grant fund is designed to assist American, post-collegiate, road runners who show great promise to develop into national and world class road running athletes. The RRCA awards grants in the amount of $5,000.00 to four to six athletes per year.

Dog Runs Half Marathon

A stray dog completed a half marathon in Australia after running alongside runners at the Goldfields Pipeline Marathon on July 23.

The dog, named Stormy, finished in about two and half hours after stopping and playing with volunteers at each station.

Race organisers awarded the dog a participant’s medal for his efforts.
