Sparks, Moore Win 10K

ASHLAND, KY — Eric Sparks won the Summer Motion 10K in 37:38. Missy Moore was female winner in 40:41 in the Saturday, June 30 event.
Second and third overall finishers were Grant Chaffin (39:48) and Jack Ditty (40:28).

In the 5K, Jacob Nakamura was the winner in 18:10, followed by Scott Hamm (18:39) and Jake Crawford (20:43). Female winner was Saige Foster in 24:44.

MORGANTOWN, KY — Jordan Green was the first four-time winner in the 37 year history of the Green River 5 Mile Run/Walk held June 16, finishing in 29:47. Brian Collins was second in 31:45.

Belle Thomas was the female winner for the third time and finished third overall in the race. Her time was 33:27.

LITTLE ROCK, AR — Ricky Romero of Austin, TX and Therese Haiss of Chagrin Falls, OH, were winners of the "Go! Mile” June 16. Romero was overall winnere in 4:17.31. Haiss was female champion in 4:40.46.

Finishing 2-3 overall were Frezer Legesse (4:25.51) and Andrew Leahey (4:28.05), both of Oklahoma City.

FORT SMITH, AR — The Fort Smith Marathon has again donated to the Park Partners of Fort Smith with a $45,000 donation.

Park Partners help the city maintain parks, bikeways, trails, etc.

DULUTH, MN — American Kellyn Taylor of Flagstaff, Arizona set a new women’s course record Saturday, winning Grandma’s Marathon in 2:24:28.

Eliah Barno of Kenya was overall winner for the fourth year in a row in 2:10:06.

3 Races in 24 Hours

JACKSONVILLE, FL — The Tour de Pain at Jacksonville Aug. 3-4 features three races in 24 hours with times added together to determine overall finish places.

A 4-mile beach race will be held on Friday at 6:30 p.m., then a 5K road race on Saturday at 7 a.m., then the final race will be a one-mile “Sizzler” at 4:30 p.m.

YORKTOWN, VA — The next Hampton Roads Super Grand Prix event is the Coast Guard 5K at Yorktown on July 28.

The 2018 Grand Prix has 26 races selected from the schedules of the Tidewater Striders, Colonial Road Runners, and the Peninsula Track Club.

ATLANTA — Ahimsa House, Georgia’s only nonprofit to help human and animal victims of domestic violence, will host its annual Walk, Wag & Run 5K and fun run on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Since 2004, Ahimsa House has provided more than 81,000 nights of emergency safe shelter for animals in abusive situations. This allows domestic violence victims the chance to look for safe housing, and 87% of clients have been reunited with their pets.
