Charles Wambolt, 52, was second in 15:26, John Waguespack, 58, third in 16:22, followed by Bryan Smith, 55, in 16:23, and Sam Landry, 56, in 16:55.

Divas-FWC_RJ-160x160_V2.jpgThe Divas® Running Series will make its return to Florida on Sunday, Dec. 10. After three years in St. Augustine Beach, the Divas Series will debut in Punta Gorda, a waterfront city that lies along the Charlotte Harbor, one of the US’s largest natural harbors.

Punta Gorda is a historic town with streets lined with palm trees and beautifully restored homes, which leave a tangible old-Florida atmosphere. Plus, nearly everything is waterfront, which is perfect for a run.

Martin’s Park to Honor Boston Victim

BOSTON — A new park will honor 8-year-old Martin Richard, the youngest victim of the Boston Marathon bombing.

Martin’s Park will be located on the South Boston waterfront near the Boston Children’s Museum. He was one of three people killed at the marathon attack when bombs exploded near the finish line on April 15, 2013.

Bill Welch Runs 1,000th 5K

CLAREMONT, FL — Bill Welch, Sarasota, Florida resident ran his 1000th 5K at Clermont’s Summer Sprint Triathlon/Duathlon/5K Seriesevent on Saturday. Welch is an Air Force veteran and has kept meticulous records of every race in preparation for reaching this goal prior to his 80th birthday on Sept. 6. Welch finished fourth in the 75-79 age group in 47:14. Charles Veering, 75, of Winter Park won the age group in 33:33.

The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced that running legends and past champions Steve Jones (1984, 1985), Khalid Khannouchi (1997, 1999, 2000, 2002), Catherine Ndereba (2000, 2001), Paula Radcliffe (2002) and Deena Kastor (2005) will return as race ambassadors to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on Oct. 8.

Sean Van Horn from Carbondale, Colo. finished in second followed by Weston Hill from Upper Hutt, New Zealand in third.

YORKTOWN, VA — Jack Little, 23, of Yorktown was overall winner of the 29th Annual Coast Guard Day 5K in 16:09. Andre Jordan, 17, of Chesapeake, was second in 16:24, and Roger Hopper, 26, of Norfolk, was third in 16:36.
