mf.jpgANDERSON, SC – The 40th annual running of The People’s Bank Midnight Flight road races was held on August 25 at the Anderson Area YMCA. The popular nighttime event featured a three-race lineup with a one-mile race beginning the evening, followed by a 5K, and finishing with a 10K. Many runners chose to run in more than one race, including several race category winners. The 10K race was the official start of the Running Journal Grand Prix, now in its 40th season.

Provence Wins Mt. Nebo Run

Nebo.jpgDardanelle, AR — Jeremy Provence, 27, of Clarksville, was the overall winner Aug. 27 of the Mt. Nebo Trail Run, a distance of 14 miles. He finished in 1:34:12. Shane Poland, 33, of Vilonia, was second in 1:42:40.

Finishing third was Ian Rogers, 23, of Little Rock, in 1:43:04, followed by Kevin Golden, 50, of Maumelle, in 1:43:29.

Swiss Runner Wins Pikes Peak

PIKES PEAK, COL — Remi Bonnet of Switzerland ran his longest-ever race on Sunday, winning the difficult, uphill Pikes Peak Marathon in 3:37:08.

First female Kristina Mascarenas of Colorado Springs finished in 4:38:54.

Kogo, Degefa Win at Parkersburg

PARKERSBURG, WV — Julius Kogo won the Parkersburg News & Sentinel Half Marathon on Saturday in 1:03:09. It was his seventh win in the 31st running of he event. He was followed by fellow Kenyan Panuel Mungo in 1:03:25 and Geofrey Ngdetich in 1:04:13.

Female winner was Biruktayit Degefa of Ethiopia in 1:13:44. Susan Jerotich was second in 1:15:14 and Sophy Jepchirchir third in 1:16:09.

One South Carolina record was tied at the Jailbreak 5K in Lexington on May 27 as 8-year-old Kendra Miles of Lexington ran 21:42 to tie the 8-9-year-old record.

George Luke, 77, of Greenville ran 36:05 for 8K in Simpsonville on June 10 to set a new record of 36:05 in the 75-79 age group.

DALLAS -- Downtown Dallas, Victory Park, Uptown, Highland Park, Lower Greenville, Lakewood, White Rock Lake, Swiss Avenue and Deep Ellum: The 2017 BMW Dallas Marathon, Half Marathon and SMU Cox School of Business Relay unveils a new course and start/finish line that is sure to highlight Dallas’ most iconic and beautiful neighborhoods and landmarks. Race officials focused on enhancing the runner and guest experience, including adding more overall downhill miles for both races, and creating a more scenic route for participants and spectators in the updated course design.
