Kamiri, Maina Win Cotton Row 10K

HUNTSVILLE, AL — Francis Kamiri, 30, of Columbia, SC, won the Mercedes Benz Cotton Row Run 10K on Memorial Day, May 29, racing home in 30:18. Second went to Christopher Roberts, 21, of Huntsville, in 32:04. Richard Kimani, 28, of Birmingham was third in 32:27.

greekfest-300.pngNEW ORLEANS — Kevin Castille, 45, won the 5K and the mile run at the Greek Festival Run/Walk on May 26. Castile won the 5K in 14:31 and the mile run in 4:24. Ian Carr was second in the 5K in 15:24, followed by Richard Bouckaert in 15:31.

CHICAGO - The Bank of America Chicago Marathon announced that it will expand one of its longest standing partnerships in the event's 40-year history, naming Gatorade Endurance as the exclusive on-course energy gel provider through 2020. Gatorade, a formidable brand in the sports arena and the endurance industry, became an official sponsor of the Chicago Marathon in 1989.

GREENVILLE, SC — Benjamin Sessions, 22, was the winner May 27 of the Paris Mountain 12K, finishing in 52:57.74. Second was William Harrison, 29, in 54:28.53, while Peter Ross, 37, was third in 56:13.49.

Jeannette Rautenbach, 52, was female champion in 1:06:56.08. Second was Marah Larkin, 15, in 1:08:53.41, followed by Rhonda Flelder, 44, in 1:10:31.43.

ORANGE BEACH, AL — Darrel Williams of Fairhope won the Paradise Island 5K on May 28, finishing in 17:45. Sarah Hopkins of Knoxville, TN, was female winner in 21:43.

COLUMBIA, SC — Geoffrey Ngetich (1:08:10) and Cyrus Korir (1:08:29) of Chapel Hill, NC, finished 1-2 in the Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Half Marathon on May 20. Matt Galvin of Marietta, GA, was third in 1:12:13.

Top female was Zipporah Chebet of Chapel Hill in 1:22:26. Second went to Lacey Krout of Atlanta in 1:23:21, while Shawanna White of Columbia was third in 1:24:50.

Klages, Carney 5K Winners

HAMPTON, VA — Peter Klages (17:23) of Newport News and Christina Carney of Chesapeake (21:28) were winners May 20 of the 2nd Annual Hampton City Schools Run for the Stage 5K.

The event was held at the Matteson Trail in Hampton, a paved path around the Hamptons golf course. The event, which had 228 runners, was conducted by the Peninsula Track Club.
