Keflezighi to race 26th and final marathon of his professional career on Sunday, November 5 in New York City.

NEW YORK, March 3, 2017 —The 2017 TCS New York City Marathon will be the 26th and final marathon of NYRR Team for Kids Ambassador Meb Keflezighi’s professional career, and in honor of that, after the event’s official drawing is completed the four-time Olympian will select the race’s final participant as “Meb’s Final Marathoner.”

COLUMBIA, SC — The University of South Carolina will host the 2017 SEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships May 11-13, plus three other home track meets during the 2017 outdoor season.

“There are plenty of opportunities for track & field fans to volunteer and assist at these meetings,” an official said.

Chicago Marathon Gets Evergreen Award

The Council for Responsible Sport announced that the 2016 Bank of America Chicago Marathon has been awarded evergreen level certification for achieving 57 of the best-practice standards offered in the council’s certification program for social and environmental responsibility at sporting events.

GAINESVILLE, FL — Mike Hensley, 31, of Gainesville was overall winner of the Five Points of Life Marathon on Feb. 26, finishing in 2:36:57. Cole Bataille, 33, of Winter Haven was second in 2:44:52, followed by Michael Rosato of Gainesville in 2:56:12.

BENTON, AR — Teen boys took the top 3 finisher places Feb. 25 at The Beat Goes On 5K.

Brandon Mann, 15, was the winner in 16:51.08, followed by Ethan Boyer, 16, in 16:33.62, and Johnny Chicas in 16:43.58. All three are from Bryant, Arkansas.

Coach Melvin Morrison and Charles Whitley, race directors, said, "It was a great way to bring families together and to raise money to help families that have struggled this winter and to send team members to summer camp. Our sponsors were amazing in giving gift cards for runners to eat and shop after the race. Many families helped to give back to the community.”
