Americans Win World Marathon Challenge

Daniel Cartica of Chicago, a Marine Corps captain, and Becca Pizzi of the Boston area (who ran cross country at Mars Hill University in Asheville, NC) finished 7 marathons on 7 continents in 7 days. They were the overall winners among 15 contestants. The first event was held in Anarctica on Jan. 23 and the final event in Sydney Australia was completed on the seventh day.

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Running shoes, energy gels, and plenty of course entertainment won’t be the only things helping this year’s field of participants get to the finish line during the Little Rock Marathon. Participants will have the opportunity to rely on the guidance of a talented group of athletes – the Go! Running Pace Team.

Slimani, Kieffer Win Miami Marathon

Benazzouz Slimani, 40, a Morrocan living in Italy was the winner of the Miami Marathon on Sunday in 2:24:56, while Allison Kieffer, 28, of New York City was the female champ in 2:55:31.

OCALA, FL — 45-year-old George Barthelmes of Bryceville, FL wins the Ocala Marathon on Jan. 17 in 2:52:51, followed by Andres Perez of Orlando in 3:16:40, and Dan Stoner of Gainesville in 3:18:51.

In the women's race, Laura Fales of Maitland was the winner in 3:44:43, followed by Maggie McCloskey of Gainesville in 3:50:24, and Jessica Morey of Gainesville in 3:54:21.

CHARLESTON, SC — Anders Fransson of Uppsala Sweden, wins the Charleston Marathon on Jan. 16 in 2:27:14, David Ringwood of Baltimore, was second in 2:36:21 and Alexander Tyner of Rancho Santa Fe, CA, third in 2:37:26.

The event, Hattiesburg’s only half-marathon, is set for Saturday, April 2. Both races will start and finish at Hattiesburg Clinic’s main campus, 415 S. 28th Ave. The race activities will begin with the half-marathon at 7 a.m. and the 5K to follow at 7:15 a.m.

RRCA Race Shirt Contest

The RRCA is pleased to announce the 8th RRCA Race Shirt Contest. This is an opportunity to showcase your event from a little different angle. The RRCA is seeking shirts (long or short sleeve, cotton or performance) from 2015 events hosted by RRCA members. Only one shirt per event is needed, size does not matter. A club hosting multiple events can submit entries for multiple races.
