Montgomery, Alabama - WVAS-FM Radio Station, licensed to and located on the campus of Alabama State University, is partnering with Jimmy John’s to host the 2015 “5K Veterans Run/Walk” on Saturday, November 7th at 8:30 a.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m.

War Vets Benefit From Half Marathon

COVINGTON, KY — Local veterans who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam will benefit from the Nov. 15 Honor Run Half Marathon. Proceeds will go to Honor Flight Tri-State to help send the vets to Washington, DC to view war memorials.

The race starts and finishes at the Florence Y’all water tower and also includes a two-person relay.

RICHMOND, Va. – Two professional IRONMAN competitors, ranked top in the world, and a coach who’s helped endurance athletes make their way across finish lines with record times will headline the 3rd Annual Richmond Endurance Athlete Symposium on Jan. 23, 2016 at the Richmond Westin.

Billed as a day of motivation and education, the symposium and expo is sponsored by Tidewater Physical Therapy and Tidewater Performance Centers.

Developed in 2007 through a partnership with the Myrtle Beach Marathon Board of Directors, the program serves as the official charity training team of the Grand Strand's first and longest running major endurance event.

Marathon world record-setters and all-time greats Haile Gebrselassie, Tegla Loroupe, Paula Radcliffe, and Paul Tergat will be inducted into the NYRR Hall of Fame, Class of 2015, with Gebrselassie also receiving the 2015 Abebe Bikila Award, and award-winning running journalist Marc Bloom receiving the 2015 George A. Hirsch Journalism Award, it was announced today by New York Road Runners.

SAVANNAH — The Critz Tybee Run Fest 2016 and the Savannah Morning News, with its online segment savannhnow.com, have partnered up to present for the 5th time in a row the 2016 T- Shirt design contest for the official runners gear of the 2016 event.

The contest is open to participants of all ages, from all over the country and even internationally.

Two southern marathons have made a CNN.com list of “7 U.S. marathons worth the trip.”

— The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer at Jacksonville, FL, “launched by local news anchor and three-time breast cancer survivor Donna Deegan,” the event is described as “the Florida coast’s most inspiring marathon.”
