Inaugural fun run to benefit Big Brothers Big Sister and Little Rock Parks & Recreation

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Marathon race officials announced today it will partner with the Corner Store and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas to host the inaugural Corner Store Country Run to be held Sept. 20, 2014. The race starts at 7:30 a.m. in front of War Memorial Stadium and is part of an eight-city race series. The race benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas and Little Rock Parks & Recreation.

Charlottesville, VA – The Miller Lite Charlottesville Marathon is excited to announce the addition of the Donate Life Virginia Relay to the 2015 races taking place on April 5th, 2015. In its thirteenth year, the Charlottesville Marathon events already include the Miller Lite Marathon, Whole Foods Half-Marathon, Virginia Blood Services 8k, and Whole Kids Mile. Now, they will also include the Donate Life Virginia Marathon Relay.

The partnership between Kentucky's two largest half-marathons returns for runners in 2015. The Kentucky Derby Festival miniMarathon presented by Walmart and HumanaVitality in Louisville on April 25, and Lexington'sRunTheBluegrass Half-Marathon presented by John's Run/Walk Shop on March 28, joined forces last year to create the Kentucky Half Classic.

On the evening of Sept. 23, Robeson Road Runners of Lumberton, NC will sponsor the Jack and Jill Nine Mile Team Challenge. It will begin at 6:30 pm at the Lumberton High School Track.

Dan Snope, 28-year-old runner from Savannah, GA, set a world record on Aug. 9 for the greatest number of miles run barefoot in a 24-hour period.
He set the new record of 136.98 miles in Anchorage, Alaska at the Six Days in the Dome event. The previous record was 131.43 miles set by a New Zealand runner.

This story blew my mind. Steve Way is 40 years old and was overweight (16 stone-224 pounds), smoked, drank and overate.
