Eugene, Oregon – Asbel Kiprop is only 24 and already among the world’s greatest milers of all time. He leads the best field ever to run the signature event at the Prefontaine Classic.

The landmark 40th Pre Classic will be held May 30-31 at historic Hayward Field, and the final race will once again be the Bowerman Mile. Named after legendary coach Bill Bowerman, the event is annually the best in the world.

She bests Colleen De Reuck's U.S. Masters (age 40+) half-marathon record by 12 seconds in New York City

Most consecutive Boston Marathons

Bennett Beach of Bethesda, Maryland holds the record for the most consecutive completions of the Boston Marathon -- an amazing 46 straight, including the 2013 race when he was stopped on the course, along with others, because of the bombing.

The Boston Athletic Assocation granted a waiver to runners and Beach was able to continue his streak.

George McCord of Laurel was overall winner of the Rise and Shine Half Marathon April 5 at Hattiesburg, MS, finishing in 1:26:47. Second went to Alvarez Alvaro of Meridian in 1:27:05, while John Chandler of Hattiesburg was third in 1:27:13.

Marshall, Hutchinson win 10-miler

Douglas Marshall of Mathews, VA, and Megan Hutchinson of Norfolk were winners of the April 5 Knights of Columbus 10 Mile Run held on the tour roads of the Yorktown Battlefield. The race had been originally scheduled for Jan. 25 but was postponed by snow and ice that weekend.

Marshall, 39, finished in 1:03:44, followed by Andrew Cutler of Yorktown in 1:06:46, Joseph Kistner of Colonial Heights in 1:08:06, and Ramon Silva of Newport News in 1:08:32.
