The record total for 2013 represents a 16 percent increase over 2012’s fundraising results.

BOSTON — John Hancock’s 2013 Boston Marathon Fundraising Programs raised nearly $8 million for non-profit organizations as part of the 117th running of the historic race on Monday, April 15, 2013. The record total for 2013 represents a 16 percent increase over 2012’s fundraising results.

There are rules and then there are rules. Some are written and some are unwritten. They apply to us runners whether we want them to or not. I’ve written about some of these rules before, but here we go again. Let’s look at some of the unwritten rules first.

The run slow every day rule. If you run slow every day it won’t hurt you. But it will make sure that if you decide to run in races you will run them slow as well.

Run@Work, Run@School Day Sept. 20

The Road Runners Club of America is promoting the annual Run@Work and Run@School days, which will be on Sept. 20. Company wellness programs, human resources departments, running clubs, running events, running shoe stores, teachers, coaches, parents, and individuals across the country are encouraged to plan fun runs and walks with their employers or at local schools. Louisville Triple Crown registration opens

triple crown.jpgRegistration is now open for the 2014 Louisville Triple Crown of Running presented by Novo Nordisk. A registration fee of $90 is for all three races until February 10, 2014 (mail-in or walk-in) or February 15 (online only).
