It could be a friend, a stranger, a runner. Every three days, more Americans die from sudden cardiac arrest than the number who died in the 9-11 attacks. You can lessen this recurring loss by performing Continuous Chest Compression CPR, a hands-only CPR method that doubles a person’s chance of surviving cardiac arrest.

Through the years I have attempted to share some of my wisdom gained from more than 30 years of running, competing, and coaching. When I started running in 1978 there was not much information available and we certainly did not have the Internet. There is so much information out there today that it can be contradictory and just pure overwhelming. You still have to do what we did back then and find what works best for you and your situation. You are really an experiment of one!

No love was lost between the schools. Furman’s first outdoor track meet each year was early in March, versus Clemson. One cold March afternoon, the meet was held at Clemson, whose old track had been constructed near the dormitories. That day as the Furman distance runners warmed up near the track, they were doused by pitchers of water from the dorm windows. On a windy 30-degree day, the prank was perfect.

Summer is our favorite time of year here at ZAP. Running fanatics, in all stages of their running pursuits, descend upon Blowing Rock in search of a few tips (and occasionally a complete overhaul) for their running. Unlike the more traditional resolutions that tend to center around the beginning of the calendar year, we at ZAP have found that running resolutions tend to center on the school year of August/September to late spring.
